For Dogs Suffering from Selective Deafness
COST : $500 per camp
or
Camp Plus Accommodations
COST: $650 for camp and stay at Kennel Lane House right on the campus (space limited).
Okay, Bowser comes to you in the house right on a dime anytime you call, but the second you are outside and off-leash, Bowser becomes deaf as a post. A reliable recall is one of the most important behaviors your dog must respond to. Without it, life could be extremely short.
This three day camp will teach your dog to come when called, and we will be working with different levels of distractions. You will create focus in your dog while learning how to get-and keep-your dog's attention. There will be classroom demonstrations and discussion of training techniques with the utilization of a good training plan.
Actual training will be conducted in a safe, enclosed area on campus. We will also progress to working off-leash during this camp session. Those who progress to maximum level off-leash in the training enclosed area will also work on long-line in more open areas. If the entire class can maximize their level of competence with the recall in both areas, we will take a hike through a portion of the beautiful Appalachain Mountains on Sunday morning.
The equivalent of our Level I behavior evaluation would be a plus for you and your dog, however during this three day camp, you should be able to progress to that level of accomplishment with your dog.
This class will be limited to 10 friendly dogs. Participants will need to acquire the following handling tools prior to class, or let us know so we can have them available for you to purchase upon arrival:
6' cotton or leather lead, flat buckle collar, 20' cotton long-line, 50' cotton long-line. Lots and lots of really "super" human food treats cut in Cheerio sized pieces. (Refrigeration and Freezer space available, label your stuff.) Again, if for any reason you need to acquire the above supplies when you arrive, please let us know when you register.
Training will happen, regardless of the weather, so plan for all weather gear when you pack for this camp. We will practice and work with the group of dog/handler teams first in a large security fenced area, later moving to more open areas. We will also on the last day trek through open fields and forest, as your dog learns to play the come game from all distances.
This three-day program, taught by Kat Rollins, Graduate of Pat Miller's PeaceablePaws Trainer Intern Academies, will help you not only learn to manage your dog better in public, but you will also develop friendships with other clients that you can develop to last a lifetime. Nothing better than knowing other like minded dog owners.
There will be a Maximum of 10 dogs per camp.
No aggressive dogs will be allowed at this camp. If you arrive with an aggressive dog, you will be allowed to participate in the camp, but the dog will be kenneled in our boarding kennel during all hands on training exercises, or you will be asked to leave and no refund will be given.

I am convinced that dog people get dogs for companionship primarily, and also to share in relationships with others. A good dogs helps fulfill us in a very positive gentle way. It is said the ownership of pets and especially a dog actually helps us to live longer.
Well, maybe not always, if you are one of those who are living with the stress of a dog who is reactive to other dogs. There are probably times when you are convinced that stress is going to shorten your life. It's a lot of work to live with a dog you can't trust to not react with aggressive display behavior in the presence of other dogs. After all, you got the dog so you could do things that would involve your dog. If you’re afraid or embarrassed to take "wonder pooch" on your outings because of his horrible behavior displays, Ballistic Bowser Camp could be the solution to your problems.
This camp involves only dogs who have known dog to dog aggression issues. You will learn what is going on with the dog and practice how to desensitize and counter condition the behavior, while in the presence of others with the same problems.
We will install a conditioned emotional response and practice sub-threshold counter conditioning. You will learn calming and management techniques along with emergency escape exercises.
We will practice and work with the group of dog/handler teams first in a large security fenced area, later moving to more open areas.
We will also on the last day trek through open fields and forest, as your dog learns to accept other dogs at a safe distance.
This three-day program, taught by Kat Rollins, Trainer and Consultant, will help you not only learn to manage your dog better in public, but you will also develop a relationship with others in the class for a lasting support group you can continue to network with following the Camp.
There will be a Maximum of 6 dogs per camp.
No people-aggressive dogs will be allowed at this camp.
