Services: The Dog Squad is dedicated to providing the highest level of obedience training to the companion dog owner and sport dog enthusiast, living in Alameda, Contra Costa and the surrounding counties of Northern California. Our training programs are designed to meet each owner's individual needs as well as expectations.
The Dog Squad currently offers a variety of programs to meet the challenges of people's everyday living needs from private in-home lessons to public classes and Puppy Preschool.
Our goal is to show our clients that their dog can learn to be obedient and reliable in and out of familiar environments, as well as around real world distractions.
Our clients deserve nothing less than a happy, obedient and reliable companion that can share in all of their everyday adventures.
Our services are provided 7 days a week and we provide Lifetime support for all our training packages.

Methods: The Dog Squad is an in-home dog training service and personalized dog obedience school that helps Oakland, Berkeley and East Bay families solve all types of dog behavior problems, including dog aggression.
Our trainer-owners, Oakland-based dog trainers Steve Bettcher and Patrick Gibbons, have over 25 years of combined dog training experience in the Bay Area... and over 30 East Bay veterinarians refer their clients to them for in-home dog behavior training and problem solving.
Dog obedience problems often stem from a lack of communication, lack of clear boundary setting, and lack of consistent discipline. We teach pet owners how to train their puppies and dogs using a humane approach to dog obedience training that teaches you how to communicate effectively with your pet, so that your dog understands clearly what you want and expect. We act as your coach, by working with your dog on and off-leash, and then showing you how to get the exact same results. Our obedience training produces dogs that listen better and respond to you even when distracted.
Many dog training schools and obedience classes only cover basic dog manners and obedience, and do not deal with specific problem dog behavior. Steve and Patrick work with all breeds of dogs, all canine temperaments, and all dog behavior problems.
The Dog Squad uses a variety of training methods and training tools. The methods of training are based on the dog, its temperment and the owner's goals and objectives. The training methods they use range from "all positive" to traditional methods using training collars with correction to using remote training collars. All their methods are done in a humane and non confrontational manner.
