My 1yr old dog dislikes kids all of the sudden

My one year old Dog he is a mixed breed Beagle, terrier, pitbull. He is the biggest MUSH! Lately he has been so bad to kids. Now it is my son that I am worried about. My son is 11 years old and tonight he came home from a friends home, came in the front door and the dog was growling, barking teeth exposed etc... I ran to the front door the dog was so fixated on his behavior I could not stop it. I took some advice from Cesar Milan I redirected him by hitting him on the neck and then I put him in his cage told him bad boy and turned out all the lights and there he stays. He has done this before with strangers but just my sons friends no adults and no females. What do I do?????

Well, initially - ignore anything you saw cesar do. This isn't something that you should punish. Did you see the disclaimer on the tv? It says - dont try this on your own..there is a reason for that.

You need to figure out what caused the change, and why is the dog acting this way. once you figure out what is going on, you can begin to address the situation more appropriately. My advice, is to practice some good interaction between your son and the dog. Have your son feed the dog, play with the dog, maybe do some basic obedience using treats & toys as praise. build a good relationship between the two. If it continues, seek the help of a professional to see what is causing this new problem.
