Min Pin urinates in crate at night and occaionally in my lap

I have a 16 month old male Min Pin named Spike. He is 98% house trained. At night he sleeps in a crate which is lined with a cushioned bed. More often than not, even though we walk him before he goes to bed, he pees in his crate. He, like many Min Pins, loves to pee dozens of times each day. We have tried to get him on a schedule. Once in the morning, midday, afternoon and at night when we go to bed. At one time we had him in our room at night so we could walk him in the middle of the night but we tried to phase him out of that habit and now he sleeps in the crate in the garage at night. He sleeps in the garage because our room was beeginning to smell doggy and like pee when he peed in the crate. His fluid intake is monitored later in the evening, yet he still manages to have urine left in that bottomless bladder of his. On three different occasions while laying in my lap he has lifted his rear slightly and peed in my lap. He has not been nuetered yet. What can I do?
