Hello,
I just brought my puppy home last Sunday - he's an adorable miniature schnauzer (a little over 8 weeks old) and for the most part, I'm pleasantly surprised by his behavior and how well he's adapted to his new home. I plan on getting him into a puppy obedience class but the ones I have looked into don't accept new students until they're 12 weeks old so I need some help in the meantime... He's REALLY biting my hands terribly - I have many, many cuts and just as soon as they start to heal, he seems to bite in the exact same place and re-opens the wound. I'm very consistent with "no bite!" and "bad!" and when I'm able to, I put him in his crate for a minute or so and then let him out. I've also tried to close his snout but he seems to get very beligerent and growls and shakes his head to squirm out. I was hoping that he would get the picture after having this happen over and over but it's just not working. Am I handling the situation wrong or do I just need to continue what I'm doing? I would greatly appreciate any advice!

Here are some articles for you to read - this is a very common problem. If you have questions check back in with us. Also, remember, puppy teeth are very sharp and will hurt more than you think!
