both my dogs fight

Hi! i have 2 dogs, one of which is a full bred jack russell terrier, and the other is a mix breed of shih-tzu and rat chaser I believe. It started this past thursday when I went out to the backyard to play with my dogs. My dad had given them both bones, the jack russell doesn't give up on his bone, he chews it until it is nearly done, but the other one just licks it and chew on it a bit and is finished with it. So when I went out there the shih-tzu followed me and I playfully took the bone from the jack russell and let the other dog lick it then gave it back to the jack. Suddenly the jack starts growling at the other dog ( which i thought nothing was going to happen because they usually growl and playfully fight )the shih-tzu attacked the jack russell ( which is a little bigger than the shih-tzu) and they just attacked. I freaked out and pulled the jack up and the other dog was hanging, so I let him down and did the dumbest thing, I put my hand where their mouth is, how dumb! I got bit and scremed a little and then stood up and grabbed the jack and took him to the table. The other dog ran inside and stayed there. I put the jack on my lap and clamed it down a bit by petting him and talking to him. After a bit of that I put them together again and they were doing fine until I left. I heard them growl and turned around quickly and ran to them and picked up the jack. I took him to the kitchen and gave him some water, then put him outside and they were fine. Since then one dog stayed out while the other slept on my bed, because at night they both would sleep on my bed. Just today I found out they fought again yesterday/last night and when they pulled up the jack again the shih-tzu was hanging and was bleeding a little. Today when I was just scratching his ear I felt dried blood and felt his neck and found little teeth marks. My dad has come to the decision of giving one of the dogs away or finding a way to reverse this.

First, never ever pick up a dog in a fight. You will only cause more damage. Second, please call a trainer in your area to assess the situation better. They will be able to help you identify the triggers to help prevent it from occurring in the future. In a lot of cases it is pure management to keep fights from occurring.
