Hi, I have a question about my husband,s dog he brought into our relationship. We have been together for almost two years and he has had his dog a rat terrier for about 5 years.
His dog is a biter. He has bitten my daughter who is 8 several times, not hard enough to draw blood but enough to leave bruises.
He has bitten a few people bad enough to break skin. He seems to be selective with whom he bites, he will not bite my mother or me or my oldest daughter who is 13 but will bite my or try to bite my son who is 15. He always tries to bite my ex husband.
He seems like a happy go lucky dog most the time, but he doesn't like certain other dogs or people. He is a crazy barker as well, we have a bark collar on him at the moment.
How can we stop him just biting people? We read about only letting him urinate in one place in the yard. But I am beginning to wonder if he has a screw loose and just likes to bite randomly. |

Well, the first step is to figure out why he is biting. Until you know that, you wont be able to fix anything (other than just keeping him on leash). I dont understand your comment about urinating in one place - that doesn't have anything to do with behavior at all.
If you haven't, call a trainer and talk to the directly. They will ask you questions and make a recommendation about doing an evaluation.
