I am married and have three beautiful daughters ages 9,5 and 3.(We also have one on the way) and adopted an American Staffordshire Mix from the local SPCA three mos. ago. He has been "play biting" lately and I would like to know what to do when he does this. I am going to check books out again from the Library this week but I keep reading a variety of "How to solve biting",etc. Advice please. P.S. Nard is almost 7 mos. old. Thanks. |

My 6 month old puppy does the same thing. I find that either telling him "STOP IT" or if I squeak and pretend that he really hurt me, he will stop. You just have to be consistent. It only took me about a week to get him to stop. It also helps to give him something that he is aloud to chew on like a toy or a treat instead of your hand. I like to reward my puppy for chewing on his toys instead of me. My older dog had the same problem when she was a puppy, except she was much worse. She would chew on furniture and pretty much anything she could find. If you have that problem, I would suggest the sour apple spray (especially if your pup chews on the leash) it works very well.
Good luck,
