Four Paws, Four Directions Dog Training & Canine Behavior Consulting

The Four Sacred Directions balance the world in many indigenous cultures. Four Paws, Four Directions emphasizes positive dog training that facilitates the social and spiritual relationship between dogs and their human companions. My philosophy emphasizes positive methods that are proven to give dogs confidence and produce an enthusiastic responsiveness to their owners. I train clients in the use of the clicker and offer a reward based training method. My private sessions and group classes teach owners and dogs how to work harmoniously together. Dogs learn life skills and good manners -- everything that a canine good citizen should have -- and humans learn effective ways of communicating with their significant canine.
Excessive barking, counter-surfing, jumping up, destructive chewing, noise phobias, reactivity and/or aggression, separation anxiety, and other unruly behaviors signal problem areas that owners often find difficult to address on their own. I draw on years of experience and the latest scientific research about canine psychology to help restore a balanced and harmonious relationship between dogs and their human companions. I design in-home, customized programs to teach your dog good manners and other life skills. Let my gentle approach help you and your canine companion!

Training Method: reward based, but not always using the clicker.
With herding dogs, the reward is access to the sheep; with other dogs the reward is getting to do what they want (go outside, get a treat etc.); and with the clicker the reward is the sound, plus the food based reinforcement.
