My system is somewhat unique and so are my students. The people I work with don’t just want to make mechanical changes in their pets’ behavior; they seek improved relationships. In my training, pet owners begin with their own education: learning how their dogs think, why they behave the way they do, how biological, social and environmental factors influence behavior, and how to initiate change and maintain behavioral improvements.

Training Method: My student’s dogs cooperate willingly, offering appropriate behaviors without prompts, punishment or bribes. They are well adjusted family members. Both people and pets learn to be attentive, patient and disciplined. Achieving and then maintaining the lowest possible stress levels for both is of highest priority and greatly contributes to training success as well as good health for all involved. My methods are scientifically based upon learning theory and the ethology of canids. I teach the use of intrinsic reinforcement (life’s rewards) to motivate dogs to offer desirable behaviors. This means rather than luring a dog with crossed fingers and a treat in hand, we help our dogs learn all of the best things in life are achieved through cooperation with people.
