When the Walk becomes a Pulling Match: For dogs that pull on leash I have several procedures to use, depending on the client and the dog. I start with reinforcing loose leash walking and train the heel position. I teach "Be A Tree" when the leash goes tight on a walk. If more is needed, I use "Penalty Yards". For strong pullers who have learned that pressure on their neck is "normal" I might use a front clip harness or head halter. These tools are also useful when the client has stability issues.

CPDT-KA: I have been training dogs for myself, friends and family for over 35 years. For the last two years I have been training dogs professionally. While self-taught, I am continually increasing my knowledge through seminars, reading, and discussion groups. There is always more to learn.
